There were many heroes at The Stonewall Riots, that incredible night at The Stonewall Inn 1969 that was the trigger for the gay rights movement. But we have chosen just 10 who were deeply involved. Stormé DeLarverie allegedly, incited the riot and Marsha and Zazu are touted as the person who 'threw the first brick', to start it.
The people we have chosen are Marsha P. Johnson, Silvia Rivera, Stormé DeLarverie, Zazu Nova, Tammy Novak, Craig Rodwell, Marty Robinson, Danny Garvin, Miss Major Griffin-Gracy and Jackie Hormona.
Understanding and honouring our history is so important, and this is such a critical moment in queer and trans rights, so we wanted to in some way name those who helped bring such positive change for LGBTQ+ people. Read about the riot in our blog.
